Spa and its surroundings is known for the race circuit. But the F1 or 24H Spa races do not happen every day. So what to do if fast machines aren’t racing around the circuit? Here are some tips to make you stay in Belgium for longer than a single Formula 1 Spa weekend.
The spa features a renowned sparkling water spring, which springs directly from the Thermes de Spa. The tradition of healing here dates back 150 years. In addition to the healing water, you will be healed by the views of the surrounding countryside. This spa is well worth making time for outside the F1 Belgian Grand Prix.
Traditionally, the spa also includes casinos. You will also succeed in Spa, and you’ll even find the world’s first casino, which opened in 1763! It’s certainly an experience, but better to spend your money on something more meaningful, don’t you think?
Perhaps a visit to an exhibition of Joan Miró’s lithographs. You’ll find it right in the spa’s Pouhon Pierre le Grand pavilion, named after the Russian emperor Peter the Great, who stayed here. For one euro, you can taste the local healing water. For eight euros, you can admire more than a hundred works by the Spanish artist and painter.
